Chapter Meeting - The Englander (Tue. 11 Dec, 2018 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm)

Meetings are generally held on the second Tuesday of each month with the exception of the Installation Dinner in January and Tri-Chapter meetings in June and September.

Breakfast/social begins at 8:30 AM. Meeting begins at 9:00 AM.

Class Synopsis:

The Safety Assessment Program (SAP) utilizes volunteers and mutual aid resources to provide professional engineers and architects and certified building inspectors to assist local governments in safety evaluation of their built environment in the aftermath of a disaster. The program is managed by Cal OES, with cooperation from professional organizations. SAP produces two resources: SAP Evaluators, described above, and SAP Coordinators, which are local government representatives that coordinate the program

LUIHSW units are available as Learning Units for AIA.  This class is taught by a Certified SAP Instructor.

Instructors

Christopher Gale: Chris is an ICC Certified Building Official with more than 30 years of experience, 20 of those years working within Northern California Building Departments. Chris has held various positions in the building department industry including the positions of Chief Building Official, Senior Building Inspector, and Plans Examiner. As a Building Official, he successfully managed the budget and staff of a large Building and Safety Department which included Fire Plan Review and Inspection, Building Inspection, Plan Review, and Code Enforcement. In addition, Chris is an expert in smoke management systems, code enforcement actions, disaster preparedness, recovery and assessment, electrical, mechanical, concrete, steel, wood and gypsum based products. Chris is also a certified special inspector.

Geoffrey Aus:  Geoffrey is a ICC Certified, Fire and Building Plans Examiner and Inspector, Mechanical, Electrical, Fuel and Gas Inspector, Certified California Fire Marshal, Chief Officer, Fire Investigator and Instructor.  He is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (NFPA), and a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program. He is a California Office of Emergency Services Emergency Management Specialist, has served as a SAP Instructor and Inspector for 10 years.  Geoffrey holds Graduate Degrees in Public Administration and Education from USF and CSU, Chico.  Geoffrey served in the Fire Service for 35 years as Fire Marshal, Division Chief, Deputy State Fire Marshal, and as Fire Marshal for the University of California Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Geoffrey currently serves as Fire Services Supervisor with CSG Consultants and works throughout the State of California
